Hellenic United suffers Greek tragedy

An ambitious start to the National Soccer League Over30 campaign came to a demise yesterday (7/26/09) on Schaumburg's Olympic Park, as HUAC's Over30 team lost to Stare Byki, 4-0.

This one was simply a matter of Hellenic United giving up, not playing with heart, patience and poise.

Continuous tournament play during the weeks prior to the restart of the N.S.L. season caused plenty of injuries that left HUAC to show up at Olympic Park with 12 players out of a 24 player roster.

On offense, HUAC were never the aggressors, rarely taking the ball to the penalty box to create scoring opportunities.

Passing and cohesion was never there. Stare Byki took advantage of the whole situation and scored 4 goals - three coming from HUAC defender mistakes and the fourth one after some neat passing inside the HUAC area.

All excuses aside HUAC lacked the competitive drive it had on the beginning of the season and that cost them 3 points.

"Forget about today. Today wasn't HUAC's soccer," coach Yiannis Kosmas said. Up next W.I. Jets.

Line-up:

Papakostas, B. Javaras, A. Javaras, Moraitis, Rivetti, Hernandez, Mamalis, Ninis, Mele, Pagonis, Kralj.

Subs: Arsenis
