One day after announcing four new signings, HU has added Polish Soccer League Player of the Year Lukasz Zukowsi.

"Lukasz is a big, strong, in the box type striker" said HU coach Andy Sotiropoulos.

"He gives us a presence we were lacking. I know several other teams were after him, so we feel fortunate to have come away with the prize. This one (signing) is all Yannie (assistant coach Yannie Moraitis). Yannie knew Lukasz and was doggedly persistent in getting this deal done."

Zukowski is expected to be in uniform for Sunday's match against Deportivo Meridienne.

Hellenic United significantly bolstered its roster this week with the signing of four new players-Tim Balatsoukas, Mark Holland, Sammy Vanaria, and Sebastian Pilat.

Balatsoukas, a left footed striker/attacking midfielder, comes to HU from Arka of the Polish Soccer League. “Tim is a top flight player in the local amateur leagues” said HU coach Andy Sotiropoulos. “He gives us yet another attacking option and can play multiple positions.”

Holland, a versatile fullback/center back, comes over from Stare Byki of the National Soccer League. “Mark will add more of a physical presence to our back four. I like big center backs, and Mark is just that. He's in superb physical condition, and can even play out wide” said Sotiropoulos.

Nick Penesis and Giuseppe Rivetti scored a pair each as HUAC O30 strolled to a 5-2 win over last season's champions Arabian F.C. on Tuesday (06/16/09). Last year's champions are but a ghost of the team that made them such a formidable side last season.

Under heavy rain, and almost a waterlogged pitch, both sides fielded 9 players each at the start of the game as the ref's decision to hold the game in such weather caught everyone by surprise. HUAC dominated early possession and took a deserved lead 8 minutes into the game.

Nick Penesis galloped down the left and after picking the goalkeeper out of position send in a 40 yard shot that send the ball high into the net to make the score 1-0. The HUAC's midfielder's second came ten minutes later when he unleashed another left-foot shot from just outside the penalty box that had too much pace for the Arabian FC goalkeeper.
