Over 35 Update

With our fearless leader being in places unknown this week, Jerry Constantine stepped up and took the reigns. The team had a great turnout with 17 players showing up. We also want to thank a couple of familar faces from our sister teams (John Moraitis and Petros Ninis).

Although the team started with a deficit of 2-0 by the end of the first half, determination and a little luck helped the team book a win. The final whistle bear witness to a 3-2 win by our heroes.

Goals: Petros Ninis, Andreas Kosmas. Third goal was a self-goal forced by pressure from Petros Ninis.

Presidents Message

Dear Hellenic United members and supporters.

As you can imagine we are in to the outdoor season by now and we have all of our teams participating in their respective leagues. 

We are making an effort to put all the schedules and game results on our website so it will be easily accessible by everyone interested in Hellenic United. 

I encourage you to visit our website as often as you can, every day if possible, to get all the latest news, schedules, game reports and everything else concerning Hellenic United.

We are currently in discussions that we hope will soon produce our own Youth Soccer Program.

Also we will soon launch our membership program as well as the table of our annual events and we hope to have each and every one of you participate. 

We are also working to complete our sponsorship program offering multiple levels of participation.

Stay tuned and we hope to see all of you on the soccer fields soon.

Hellenic United Over 50 (yes, we have an over 50 team) participates in the Metropolitan Over 50 league.

All of our games are played on Sundays and our home field is College of Du Page, also known as COD. You may think that players 50 years old and above would not be able to be competitive but all you have to do is to come to one of these games and you will change your mind in a hurry.   Our over 50 team competes for first place every year and while we are very competitive we also have a lot of fun still playing the game we love.

We have played three games so far in the spring session. Our next game is Sunday June 3 against Royal Wawel at 10:00 in the morning at Olympic Park in Schaumburg. See you there.  

Highlights of recent games

In the first game we defeated the Eagles 2-1 on May 13 at COD in a game that was not as close as the final score indicates. We gave up a goal in the first ten minutes of the game and from that moment on we dominated the whole game as we scored the equalizer before half time. In the second half we put a lot of pressure on the opponent missing many scoring opportunities but we were able to score the winning goal midway thru and stay ahead till the end of the game.

The second game took place on May 20 also at COD and unfortunately we lost to the Rams a long time rival 3-2 in a thriller of a game. We took an early 1-0 lead but fell behind 2-1 before half time. In the second half that saw both teams attacking the Rams went ahead 3-1 before we scored a second goal with about ten minutes left in the game and despite of all the pressure we applied from that moment on we were unable to come up with the equalizer.
