HUAC "White" took on the West Indies Jets this past Sunday (5/15/10, 2-0) in their first home game of the year at the College of DuPage.
The Jets have been traditionally a very strong, veteran club of the National Soccer League but HUAC was prepared to meet the challenge at hand.
HUAC took control of the game right from the start but was not able to create any quality chances in the first 45 minutes of play that saw a 0-0 scoreline.
HUAC maintained the majority of the possession during the second half and started to create some quality opportunities. HUAC were finally able to break through in the75th minute of the match when on a free-kick delivered by HUAC midfielder Nick Zinn the ball was deflected into the path of Norman Astudillo who was able to slot it away with ease on his HUAC debut.
It was another debutant Kevin Kreller that doubled the score for HUAC 10 minutes later and put the game out of reach for the Jets. Kreller delivered a thunderous shot outside the Jets penalty box that sent the ball to meet face with the goalpost and then the back of the net.
HUAC's back line led by veteran defender Yannie Moraitis and newly signed goalkeeper Bobby Markatos earned their first shut out of the season.
