Under extreme heat on Sunday, HUAC White came out victorious against Turkish F.C. led by hat-tricks from Paul Stellatos and Ryan Widdell.
The HUAC White team were missing several players for the match and played the whole match without subs. Turkish F.C. was also shorthanded as they started the game with 9 players.
HUAC White quickly capitalized on this when Paul Stellatos scored in the 5th minute with his trademark outside the foot free kick. At about the 15 minute mark, HUAC White made it 2-0 with a Ryan Widdell free kick, which was a great call from HUAC White coach Spiro Arsenis.
Afterwards HUAC White missed several opportunities to really open the score line and two more players showed up for the opponents to bring their squad to full strength. Turkish F.C. made the score 2-1 a few minutes later and tied it up at 2-2 with an amazing, unorthodox shot 30 yards outside the box right before the half.
Starting the 2nd half, HUAC White still had not recovered from the first half equalizer and Turkish F.C. scored again to stunningly take the lead 3-2. Luckily at the 65th minute HUAC White was awarded a free kick and Paul Stellatos drilled it in the right corner to tie it up at 3-3. A few minutes later HUAC White took the lead for good when Ryan Widdell scored again on an assist from Tom Panas to make it 4-3. Stellatos scored again on a clever through ball by Christos Achillides to make it 5-3 and Widdell topped it off again to make it 6-3.
The game was called 15 minutes early by the Turkish F.C. coach due to the extreme heat.
HUAC White will look to continue the momentum this Sunday (8/16/09) against Gremio A at 11:00AM at Argo High School.
