A brief history of Hellenic United Athletic Club

In 1979, a group of Hellenes from the Chicagoland area inspired by their passion for soccer, decided to create a Hellenic soccer team by the name of Hellas Soccer Club. The group consisted of Lakis Kehagias, Chris Kehagias, Tom Kontos, Jim Kritikos, Kostas Kostaras, Ted Koulouris, Nikos Kaliabasis, Nick Giannopoulos, Andreas Saradopoulos and Demos Giannopoulos.

The team has been participating in Chicago's Premier National Soccer League for the past 3 decades. In the fall of 2004 John Kosmas and Spiro Arsenis took over as managers of the Hellas SC Over-30 team.

In the spring of 2008 the Hellas Soccer Club steering committee decided to give the "younger" generation an opportunity to form a new club under a different name. We should never forget and give a special thanks to that first group of men who immigrated to this country and founded this special team that has given us all so many memories to pass on. Our new name: Hellenic United Athletic Club.
