HUAC Blue beats F.C. Steaua 4-3

Hellenic United Blue traveled to Olympic Park in Schaumburg August 16th to take on division rival F.C. Steaua. This was a rematch of the previous tussle between the two sides a week earlier at College of Du Page that saw Steaua victorious by a 2-1 scoreline. This time, however, HU Blue was able to turn the tables and come away with a 4-3 victory.

The HU Blue victory capped off a six point weekend for the NSL newcomers, as they were also awarded three points via forfeit for a scheduled makeup game against Deportivo Meridienne who apparently has dropped out of the league. HU Blue now finds itself tied for third place in the Blue Division with FC Steaua at thirteen points. HU has one less game played than Steaua, however.

Hellenic United came out firing on all cylinders this past Sunday and took a 2-0 lead going into halftime on goals by Alen Smjecanin and Sebastian Pilat.  HU increased its lead to 3-0 just a few minutes into the second half on a goal by Nermin Dautovic. Steaua cut the deficit after an own goal by HU's Sebastian Pilat made it 3-1, but newcomer Peter Petrov, in his HU debut, made it 4-1 later in the second half. Just went it looked like HU was going to cruise to an easy victory, Steaua scored twice in the last ten minutes to cut the lead to 4-3 but could not manage to tally an equalizer.
